Leysieffer Die Himmlischen Sahnetrüffel, Rückkehr der Confiserie-Marke

Leysieffer is back: The Heavenly Return of a German Confectionery Icon

A piece of confectionery history finally returns

For decades, the name Leysieffer has stood for exquisite pralines, finest chocolates, and the unmistakable enjoyment of handmade confectionery. Now, the traditional brand is making a heavenly comeback under the umbrella of Confiserie Rabbel from Westerkappeln.

What once began in Osnabrück is now continued with the same passion and artisanal precision: original recipes, proven quality, and new, creative indulgence ideas.

From Osnabrück to Westerkappeln: the history of a brand

The success story began in 1950 when Karl Leysieffer created the first chocolate truffles in Osnabrück. Their melt-in-your-mouth filling, covered in the finest milk chocolate and a crispy sugar crust, delighted connoisseurs across the country even back then.

In 1972, an Osnabrück priest finally gave the popular praline its name: "Die Himmlischen" (The Heavenly Ones), making it a legend of German confectionery art.

After the insolvency in 2024, the brand faced extinction until Christian and Mehtap Rabbel of Confiserie Rabbel stepped in. They acquired not only the brand rights but also the original recipes and inventory to give Leysieffer a new home.

"This was a decision from the heart for us," says Christian Rabbel.
"Leysieffer stands for values that we have lived for generations: quality, innovation, and a love for craftsmanship."

Tradition meets innovation: craftsmanship from Münsterland

In Westerkappeln, only a few kilometers from the original location, Leysieffer specialties are now being re-released with state-of-the-art technology and genuine craftsmanship.

The brand promise remains unchanged: highest quality, exquisite ingredients, and finest taste. The combination of traditional confectionery and modern production ensures that every praline and every chocolate retains its typical Leysieffer note: elegant, creamy, and incomparable.

Rediscover classics: from "Die Himmlischen" to fine chocolate

For the relaunch, Rabbel is initially focusing on the most popular classics:

  • "Die Himmlischen": handmade chocolate truffles based on the original recipe, with the finest milk chocolate couverture and a delicate sugar crust.
  • Leysieffer Fine Chocolates: intense bars with a harmonious cocoa profile and a noble melt.
  • Fine Baumkuchen and Honey Gingerbread Specialties, reminiscent of the golden era of German confectionery art.

All products are meticulously handcrafted, free of palm oil, and partly gluten-free, for conscious indulgence without compromise.

Leysieffer and Rabbel: two brands, one philosophy

Both family businesses share the same passion for quality and creativity. While Rabbel has been the market leader in artisanal confectionery for over 100 years, Leysieffer, as a consumer brand, brings the emotional connection and brand recognition that connoisseurs throughout Germany appreciate.

Together, they are writing a new chapter in German confectionery tradition, with the goal of creating lasting moments of enjoyment.
